The Essence of Mind Training
Teachings met Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche
The purpose of mind training practice is to transform our thoughts, attitudes, and habits so that we lead happier lives and are genuinely helpful to those we meet. The way we currently act and think is the cause of our difficulties, not the situations we find ourselves in. Mind training shows us how our present views are mistaken and presents positive alternatives. We come to recognise that our true enemies are not those outside of ourselves but the greed, anger and jealousy that live within. Outside enemies can change and even become friends but these inner enemies always cause us difficulty. When we subdue our negative feelings our basic nature, which is kindness and peace, naturally arises.
In this class, Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche will guide us through the text, “Eight Verses for Training the Mind” by Buddhist Master Langri Tangpa. Though short in length and readily understandable, the teaching and practice are deeply effective in transforming our lives for the good.
Rinpoche received this teaching at Bodhgaya this year from HH Dalai Lama who asked that it be spread widely. It will be a rare chance. As Rinpoche becomes better known he is being invited to many centres elsewhere and his times in Nelson will be fewer.
This will be the only time Rinpoche will teach in Nelson for the rest of this year.
Iedereen is van harte welkom.
