Animal Liberation
Lama Achuk Rinpoche recently passed away. Lama Achuk was the founder of Yachen Gar University in East Tibet and spiritual leader and inspiration to the 10,000 monks and nuns who study there. He was also the beloved root guru of Amnyi Trulchung Rinpoche and numerous other accomplished lamas.
Many prominent, learned masters including H.H. Dalai Lama were asked what was the best way to appreciate and repay Lama Achuk’s great kindness. Their advice to students is to generate merit through practice and in particular through liberating the lives of a great many beings. Amnyi Trulchung is requesting his students around the world to help him fulfil a commitment to liberate 3,000,000 lives.
$400 will save the lives of 10,000 animals from imminent death by returning them to the wild. All donations are welcome.
Yachen Gar is renowned for the quality and numbers of proficient scholars and practitioners it produces. To have created this highly successful university in one lifetime is impressive enough; to have sustained and enhanced it at a time of great political unrest and religious intolerance is miraculous.
Liberating the lives of animals due for imminent slaughter is a most direct way of practising compassion - compassion in action. From the largest to the smallest, all animals are the same in valuing their life. To save any life is a wonderful act of generosity and kindness benefitting not only the animal but, ourselves and others. For ourselves it repays any karmic debt accrued from harm we have caused others in the past and results in secure, healthy and peaceful lives in the future; by dedicating the merit it benefits others in the same way.
